Cashew shell is a biomass fuel. When a plant uses shell-fired heat for steaming and drying instead of diesel, gas or grid electricity, it avoids fossil-fuel emissions. Under recognised carbon methodologies, that avoided emission — plus efficient biomass energy — can qualify a project for carbon credits, which are sold to add revenue and improve project economics. It also strengthens a plant’s sustainability profile with buyers. Eligibility and credit volumes depend on the methodology, baseline and verification.
