It is a renewable, bio-based chemical prized as a substitute for petroleum phenols: it goes into phenalkamine curing agents for epoxy coatings, phenolic resins, plasticisers, surfactants and other green-chemistry products. Because it comes from cashew shell waste, cardanol is part of the sustainability and value story of modern cashew processing.
