Cashew harvesting is still mostly manual: the cashew apple with its attached nut falls when ripe and is collected by hand, then the nut is separated from the apple. Unlike grain crops, there is no widespread fully-mechanical cashew harvester, though mechanised aids exist for collection, de-appling (separating nut from apple) and cleaning. TTQ’s focus is post-harvest processing — turning the harvested raw nuts into graded kernels — which is where mechanisation delivers the biggest gains today.
Field harvesting of cashew remains labour-intensive and hard to fully mechanise. The large, proven mechanisation gains are in post-harvest processing — shelling, peeling and grading — where automation sharply raises yield and cuts labour.
